In the glass, the wine is lightly colored and displays subtle aromas of Anjou pear, lemon rind, and a kiss of sweet oak vanillin (30% new French Oak). The palate transition from aromatics to flavor continues a harmonious flow with further tastes of lemon along with hints of toffee crystals. Flush with generosity on the back palate, the finish is expansive and lengthy making this Chardonnay a truly memorable experience.
The 45-year-old vines on this cool site ripen very slowly and have a naturally higher acidity. The slow ripening process adds layers of delicious flavors, while topping it with zest and freshness.
“Mill Station is one of my favorite Chardonnay vineyards for quite simple reasons. The difficult qualities that the Station possesses produce great grapes. It’s wet, cold, windy and quite simply harsh. These old vines bear the burden each year to mine flavors of rich bright citrus and slight salinity from the powdery Goldridge soils that they are planted in. It’s a perfect terroir for creating a classic!” - Kirk Venge, Winemaker
Food Pairing Notes
We are always excited about the diversity of food that pairs well with our Chardonnay. Enjoy this wine with a fatty cheese like Camembert or Cowgirl Creamery Red Hawk. Or serve it with a main course of lemon rosemary chicken finished with a dessert pairing of baked apple tartine.
