Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
The Calesa Pinot Noir shows an abundance of finesse, elegance, and terroir. This wine, fermented with native yeasts, is overflowing with layered aromas of dried red fruit, earth and olive and a hint of toasted oak. On the palate, its complexity showcases even more red fruit flavors of cranberry and pomegranate notes along with well-integrated oak tannins. Plentiful acidity keeps this wine tasting fresh and balanced with a medium-long finish.
Vineyard Notes
Calesa Vineyard, in the Petaluma Gap AVA, is situated in a unique spot due to the influence of cool wind and fog blowing in from the Pacific Ocean. This cooling effect makes the area an ideal place for growing high end, cool-climate Pinot Noir grapes.

Winemaker Notes
“This wine is as unique as the site from where it comes. The Calesa Vineyard is a volcanic, rocky and windswept hillside in the beautiful Petaluma Gap of Sonoma. The intense growing conditions clearly translate to the wine with spicy fruit and an undertone of tension, tannin and acidity. A Pinot fanatics dream. I cannot wait to see how this ages over the next decade.” - Kirk Venge
Food Pairing Notes
While this wine is delicious enough to stand on its own, it also pairs wonderfully with a variety of dishes. For that long-awaited dinner party, impress your friends with a Cornish game hen, accompanied by caramelized carrots and pomegranate molasses. Or for something a bit out of the ordinary try a cucumber or smoked tomato Gazpacho.
